The SIG-AMT Technical Manual

INTRODUCTION
The firm of Schweizerische Industrie-Gesellschaft at Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland (SIG) has long enjoyed a reputation as a producer of well designed, high quality, and superbly manufactured weapons.
After years of self-loading and assault rifle development SIG, in 1955, introduced the AM 55 which was
later designated the Sturmgewehr 57 (StG 57) in its military form and SIG 510 in its commercial form.
Several 510 Series rifles were developed:
510-0 Swiss Army version in the Swiss 7.5x55.5mm 510-1 Commercial version in various calibers 510-2 Commercial lightweight version

510-3 Commercial version in intermediate calibers such
as the 7.62x39 Russian caliber

510-4 Commercial version in 7.62x51mm NATO. This is the "Civilianized" version designated SIG AMT

The SIG AMT is a very reliable rifle that functions equally well on a diet of commercial ammunition by various manufacturers, as well as handloaded cartridges. Another useful feature of the SIG AMT is a built-in headspace adjustment system.

The charging handle is located on the right side of the receiver, and is pulled rear-ward to load a round into the chamber.

The SIG AMT's safety selector lever is located on the left side of the Trigger Unit, above the trigger. It has two settings; "S" for safe, and "I" for fire. The magazine release lever is also located on the left side of the Trigger Unit, just above and to the rear of the magazine well.

The SIG AMT is considered by many to be the Rolls Royce of assault rifles. SIG AMT owners rightfully feel a pride of ownership that is unmatched in the assault rifle field.
